Fairhope is a city in Baldwin County, Alabama, United States, located on the eastern shoreline of Mobile Bay. The population was 22,477 at the 2020 census . [ 4 ] Fairhope is a principal city of the Daphne-Fairhope-Foley metropolitan area , which includes all of Baldwin County.

A semi-autonomous Utilities Board and Zoning Commission support the governance of the city. [37] Daphne's current mayor is Robin LeJeune who is serving his first term as Mayor. Mayor LeJeune also served as council member and Council President. LeJeune was elected in the 2020 municipal election. A seven-member city council serves the city of Daphne.

Clay City was formerly home to brick and tile manufacturers. The tile used in the former Fairhope City Hall was made in Clay City. [ 3 ] The first pottery works in Clay City was established on the banks of the Fish River in 1850, and remained in operation until 1900.
Initially, the ordinance would have provided salaries of $200 a month for the mayor and $100 for council members, but this was altered to comply with tax reporting laws. A previous measure to pay the mayor and council salaries of $50 a month failed to pass on a 3–3 vote. [3] The council moved into new quarters in November 2007. [11]
Karin Wolff Wilson was an American elected official and has served as the mayor of Fairhope, Alabama since November 7, 2016. She was defeated by Sherry Sullivan in the August 25, 2020 municipal election.
