KitchenAid is an American home appliance brand owned by Whirlpool Corporation. The company was started in 1919 by The Hobart Manufacturing Company to produce stand mixers ; the H-5 is the first model that was introduced.
The Hobart KitchenAid and Sunbeam Mixmaster (first produced 1910) were two very early US brands of electric mixer. [9] Domestic electric mixers were rarely used before the 1920s, when they were adopted more widely for home use. [13] In 1908 Herbert Johnston, an engineer for the Hobart Manufacturing Company, invented an electric standing mixer.
The former KitchenAid division was formed in 1919. In 1934, Hobart bought the Dayton Scale Company (an IBM division) from IBM. Dart & Kraft acquired Hobart in 1981.
