Bloody Roar [a] known as Bloody Roar: Hyper Beast Duel in Europe and Japan, is a 1997 arcade fighting video game developed by Raizing and published by Hudson Soft as the first game of the Bloody Roar series.
Bloody Roar has kept somewhat the same controls over the series. A button each for both punch and kick, the beast (transform/attack) button, and a fourth button that has been either a throw button, a block button, an evade button (introduced for some characters in Bloody Roar 4), or a rave button (an early version of Hyper Beast form in the original Bloody Roar only).
The plot of the game revolves around the Fur Fighters, a group dedicated to fighting against General Viggo, the game's main antagonist. At the beginning of the game, Viggo kidnaps the families of the Fur Fighters, stranding their children around the game's various locations and turning the spouses (or in Tweek's case, mother) into robotic beasts.
