Beth Nielsen Chapman was born on September 14, 1958, [2] in Harlingen, Texas. She is the middle child of five in a Catholic family. [3] Her father was a major in the United States Air Force and her mother was a nurse. While Beth was growing up her family moved several times, settling in Alabama in 1969. [4]
