Thammasat today offers more than 240 academic programmes in 33 different faculties and colleges on four campuses. Over the 80 years since its foundation, Thammasat University has evolved from an open university for law and politics to an international university offering all levels of academic degrees in many fields and disciplines.
The institute is part of the Links to Asia by Organizing Traineeship and Student Exchange network, an international consortium of universities in Europe and Asia. Although it is an academic unit of Thammasat University and its graduates receive Thammasat University degrees, the institute is self-administered and self-financed.
During the clinical years, Thammasat University Hospital is used as the main training site and students may undertake electives in foreign countries. CICM was opened on 28 August 2012 to provide medical education in English as an international course.
Thammasat University was founded on 27 June 1935 as "The University of Moral and Political Sciences". It mandated Political Science as a core undergraduate subject. The MA and PhD programs had three clearly separated tracks: Political Science, Law, Economics.
There are 9 programs comprising more than 350 subject areas. The Management Centers have been established in 5 regions to promote academic work and develop vocational education in 77 provinces.
