Thomas William Humes (April 22, 1815 – January 16, 1892) was an American clergyman and educator, active in Knoxville, Tennessee, during the latter half of the 19th century. Elected rector of St. John's Episcopal Church in 1846, Humes led the church until the outbreak of the Civil War, when he was forced to resign due to his Union sentiments.

Cole was elected Bishop of East Tennessee on June 28, 2017, during the 33rd annual diocesan convention. He was then consecrated on December 2, 2017, at the Church of the Ascension in Knoxville, Tennessee by the Presiding Bishop Michael Curry.
