The viaduct consists of two sections. The much larger part is a steel construction with 136 sections and the same number of columns. The section north of Spring Garden Street consists of an arched bridge with 30 brick arches that extends halfway up to 34th Street. The viaduct has a double track design and was probably electrified around 1930. [3]

Goat Canyon Trestle is a wooden trestle in San Diego County, California. [1] At a length of 597–750 feet (182–229 m), it is the world's largest all-wood trestle. [1] [8] [10] [11] Goat Canyon Trestle was built in 1933 as part of the San Diego and Arizona Eastern Railway, after one of the many tunnels through the Carrizo Gorge collapsed.
The earliest elevated railway was the London and Greenwich Railway on a brick viaduct of 878 arches, built between 1836 and 1838. The first 2.5 miles (4.0 km) of the London and Blackwall Railway (1840) was also built on a viaduct. During the 1840s there were other plans for elevated railways in London that never came to fruition.
