McIntosh County is a county located in the U.S. state of Georgia. As of the 2020 census, the population was 10,975, [1] a drop of 23.4 percent since the 2010 census. The county seat is Darien. [2] McIntosh County is included in the Brunswick, GA Metropolitan Statistical Area.
McIntosh had its start when the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad was extended to that point. [2] The community was originally named Golding's Grove. [3] It was named this after William A. Golding, who donated the buildings and land that were used by the local school and church. [4]
