The group's second offering, " Snoopy vs. the Red Baron ", reached #2 in the Billboard Hot 100 and spent one week at #1 in the Record World charts, [ 1 ] remained in the bestsellers for 12 weeks, and was certified gold by the RIAA in February 1967.
A follow-up to Snoopy's Christmas, the song is set in the same year of its release, 1968.Snoopy is tasked by The Great Pumpkin to run for President of the United States, believing that "love has left the people across our native land".
The album version of the song has a simulated radio news report of failed efforts at a Christmas truce, leading to Snoopy being sent out to hunt his sworn foe.
