This is a list of law enforcement agencies in the state of Ohio. According to the US Bureau of Justice Statistics' 2008 Census of State and Local Law Enforcement Agencies , the state had 831 law enforcement agencies employing 25,992 sworn police officers, about 225 for each 100,000 residents.
Mahoning County is a county in the U.S. state of Ohio.As of the 2020 census, the population was 228,614. [1] Its county seat and largest city is Youngstown. [2] The county is named after the Mahoning River and was formed on March 1, 1846; the 83rd county in Ohio.
It opened in May 1997 with a short-term contract with the District of Columbia Department of Corrections to house 900 inmates from their notorious Lorton Correctional Complex. The combination of an inexperienced, unprepared staff with "young, aggressive, and violent" residents meant immediate friction. [5] There was a serious disruption by May 30.
