A few kind of scopes out there:-Garbage scopes with terrible warranties. (they get their money and go, no cost of the product really bakes in long term warranty)-So-So quality scopes with impeccable warranties. (i.e. Leupold, you're really buying a sterling warranty)-Really low quality, high feature scopes with good warranties. (i.e. Vortex.
E., I have used Nikon's PROSTAFF 5 4.5-14 BDC scope. I do freelance PR/Shooting Event's for Nikon so I get a lot of opportunities to try out new products and put rounds under them. Not just by myself but with different groups I work with at the range as well as Nikons large shooting event's of 200 and up. The PROSTAFF 5 is a nice scope.
Nikon has stopped selling gun products for political reasons.. I just bought a couple p7 4x16 x 50 nikon scopes as i think they are an excellent value point. Anyone think the p7 series is a high value scope to buy up as they are out of production ?
A buddy of mine on my squad is getting a bolt action in .300 Win Mag. He wanted a scope that would give him good imaging in low light. I had always had good luck with Nikon scopes and found them to be extremely bright with amazing light gathering lens systems. He said he did too but that...

I would put a $200 scope on a 22lr but on a serious hunting or target rig, nope! I've owned Redfield, Nikon, Bushnell, Burris & Leup.
2 Nikon Monarch 5 2-10x42 ED Advanced BDC scopes in near perfect condition. They run about $470 new, I will sell to your door in the lower 48 states, $350 each. The ED glass on the Monarch 5 series is really nice. 3 Nikon Monarch 3 SF 3-12x42 BDC scopes in near perfect condition.
My main purpose was to park my butt in front of the optics vendors and look at scopes near the 60 mm objective. The Leupold 12-40x60 is the benchmark IMO. Its a tough scope to beat. The same scope is now available with ED glass. 2 other scopes in the same price range are right there with the Leupold Pentax 20-60 x 65 ED glass. On par at all levels.
I would suggest a 4x scope - or possibly a 3-9x (keep it on 3x). There are plenty of suitable scopes like this on the market at every price point. You want magnification, but like everything else in life, moderation is the key. I second the recommendation for a 4x scope or 3-9x scope kept on 3x. I have a 3-9x on a 10/22 and the scope stays on 3x.
6,075. Location. eastern Washington. The Leupold VX5 and Vortex Razor HD LH are both good scopes, but might stretch your budget unless you find a good sale. The Burris Veracity 3-15 is another option, but again might stretch the budget a little. Also, the Athlon Midas Tac comes in two magnification ranges, 4-16 and 6-24, I've used the 6-24 and ...
I currently run Nikon binoculars, a Leupold Spotting scope, a Vortex rangfinder and a Vortex HS/HST rifle scope so I'm not particularly brand biased. I think the Vortex HS 2.5-10x44 is one of the best hunting rifle scopes on the market right now for the money.
