As the problem owner does not want to write greek proze, but wants to use (greek) symbols to express math in a programming language, he could try use Ukele to modify/augment/re-map his current US keyboard with extra math symbols, so he does not need to change language every time he switches from math-mode to Python or Julia or whatever.
What's better (also) about hexadecimal is that one need not convert to use Apple's "Unicode Hex Input" keyboard to put the character into a document. All my files (including web pages) are in UTF-8, so using the actual character instead of HTML entities makes my editing more WYSIWYG.

Set keyboard shortcut to ' Option + C '. Set trigger predefined action to 'Paste predefined text'. Copy '⌘' into the box. Click Ok. Now whenever BetterTouchTool is open all you have to do is press ' Option + C ' and it automatically types the '⌘' symbol. You only have to do steps one to eight once.
