The Isaiah Scroll, designated 1QIsa a and also known as the Great Isaiah Scroll, is one of the seven Dead Sea Scrolls that were first discovered by Bedouin shepherds in 1946 from Qumran Cave 1. [1] The scroll is written in Hebrew and contains the entire Book of Isaiah from beginning to end, apart from a few small damaged portions. [2]
As opposed to 1QS, manuscript 4QS d (4Q258) has the word God written in paleo-Hebrew letters 饜饜 "示El", as can be seen on an infrared picture at the Dead Sea Scrolls Digital Library. The third chapter of Habakkuk is missing entirely from the pesher, but it was left out intentionally, not destroyed by aging (most of the last column of the scroll is blank, clearly showing that the text of the pesher was complete).
