On 3 May 2008, Oxford City were promoted from the Southern League Division One South and West with a 1–0 win over Uxbridge. In their first season in the Premier Division, they finished in 6th place, narrowly missing out on the play-offs. [2] In season 2011–12, Oxford City finished as runners-up, narrowly missing out on the title.
In 1993, The Football Association (The FA) switched to persistent squad numbers, abandoning the mandatory use of 1–11 for the starting line-up. The first league event to feature this was the 1993 Football League Cup Final between Arsenal and Sheffield Wednesday, and it became standard in the FA Premier League the following season, along with names printed above the numbers. After loan periods at A.F.C. Telford United, Brackley Town and Oxford City, Ashby was released by Oxford United and joined Oxford City on a one-year contract in June 2018. Renny Piers Smith (born 3 October 1996) is an English-born Austrian professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Oxford City. [4] He has also represented Austria internationally at under-18 and under-19 level.
