Dancing on Ice is a British made dance competition television series franchise produced around the world. The format, devised by London Weekend Television and Granada Television [ 1 ] for ITV , has been a prime-time hit in eight countries, including Britain and subsequently in Italy and Chile .
On 21 October 2023, Matt Evers, who was the show's longest serving professional having been with Dancing on Ice since its inception, announced his departure after seventeen years. [11] Speaking of his exit, Evers said that it was "time to hang up the skates for now" and that he "had loved every minute of it".

The first series of Dancing on Ice aired from 14 January to 4 March 2006 on ITV. It was presented by Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, and judged by the "Ice Panel", consisting of Nicky Slater, Karen Kresge, Jason Gardiner, Karen Barber and Robin Cousins. Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean coached and trained the contestants.
From 2006 Barber served as a judge on Dancing On Ice, until 2011 where she was moved into the role of head coach where remained for the 2011 and 2012 series (it was in her 1st year as coach that she got into a big fight with her former co-judge Jason Gardiner) before she returned to the judging panel in 2013 where she remained until the end of series 9 in 2014.
