At typical self defense ranges (under 7 yards) I don't think the difference in energy between a 1.8" 38 spcl vs a 2.75" 380ACP is going to matter; hits on vital areas would, and the BG 2.0 is easier to shoot accurately, has better sights than a J-frame's and has more than double the capacity. It's a no-brainer for me.

The BG fired the first 25 rounds flawlessly, impressively actually, when on the 26th round the trigger failed. Cleared the gun, disassembled it and couldn't find anything apparently wrong.
I have recently started carrying a .380 Bodyguard in a DeSantis Nemisis holster and I like it quite a bit. The only issue I have with the Bodyguard is the safety. Does anybody make an extended safety for this? The safety is just so small that I have difficulty just wiping it on or off without changing my grip drastically.
Good to hear it.I do own the FDE .380 and have never a problem with, it excepting the fact that I can no longer pull the trigger on it. Now that I have my Xd-S Mod 2 9mm, my .380s will be going to the auction block. No more buying .38/357 and soon no more .380 for me. The XD-S is not as small as the BG .380 or an LCP, but I also have my Derringer.
Strikes were so light that the primer indentation was barely visible. I had a problem with the laser so I sent the BG to S&W with a note about the firing pin. S&W gave me a brand new frame including new laser, installed the trigger kit, and replaced the Galloway firing pin with a stock S&W. The 380 is now firing 100% on five different ammos tested.
OK, so I have the 442 which is great, but slightly too big for many of my pockets. I also have the .380 BG (the one without the laser). Fits in the pocket well and shoots OK at the range, but isn't overly inspiring. Went to my local friendly shop yesterday to review some of the small 9's and embarked upone a Kimber Micro Carry .380 mini-1911.
Got my Bodyguard earlier this summer. Put 50 rounds of Federal hollow points (which is what I carry in it) through it as soon as I got it and it worked fine. Later I put 200 rounds of PMC FMJs through it, and about 7 or 8 times the last round in the mag would not go fully into battery.
The .380 ACP (Automatic Colt Pistol) cartridge was developed by John Moses Browning and is the same cartridge as the .380 Auto, 9mm Browning, 9mm Corto, 9mm Kurz, 9mm Short, and 9×17mm, same-o-same-o, different countries use different names. But it's not to be confused with .38 ACP, completely different cartridge.
