Nassau Bay is a city in Harris County, Texas, United States, bordering the outermost southeastern edge of the city of Houston. It is located in the Clear Lake Area near Galveston Bay , directly adjacent to the Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center .
In 1999 the city appropriated $2.5 million to begin building the park. In 2001 the park received its current name. Bay Area Park is also home to an off leash dog park, which offers both small dog and large dog areas. It is located on Bay Area Blvd next to the University of Houston Clear Lake and the Armand Bayou Nature Center. [37]
Armand Bayou runs from its headwaters in Pasadena for about ten miles to the southeast, to its mouth at Mud Lake, near Taylor Lake Village. [2] The 59-square-mile Armand Bayou Watershed includes 89 miles of natural streams, which drain several settlements in southeast Harris County, including Deer Park, La Porte, Pasadena, and Taylor Lake Village.
Also, a significant number of petrochemical and refining industry employees who work at near-by facilities live in the area. NASA's Johnson Space Center (JSC) is an important pillar of the area economy. As of 2010 the center itself employs 3,000 civil servants and 12,000 engineering contractors. [19]
