Justice Strauss is a judge who lives next door to Count Olaf. The Baudelaires take a liking to her as soon as they meet in The Bad Beginning and they use her library to foil Count Olaf's plot to get the Baudelaire fortune. At the purported mock wedding that Olaf sets up at the theater, she plays the judge and almost legally marries Violet to Olaf.
