Kachin Theological College and Seminary was founded in 1932 by missionaries in Bhamo, Kachin State. [1] In 1935, the Bible School transferred to Kutkai, Northern Shan State, Course extended to 2 years. In, 1966 Bible School moved to the present campus situated in Nawng Nang, Myitkyina, Kachin State.

Historically, Myanmar Theological College (MTC) has undergone three stages of development. In 1937, it was the Bible School. After one decade, in 1947, the Bible School was promoted to a Theological Training Institution. Again, after four decades, in 1987, the Theological Training Institution was promoted to become the Myanmar Theological College.
Myanmar Institute of Theology, originally known as Baptist Divinity School, was founded in June 1927, on Seminary Hill, Insein by the Myanmar Baptist Convention. [1] With only four students to begin, the school used the facilities of Karen Theological Seminary currently known as Kayin Baptist Theological Seminary.
The college and seminary was founded in 1986 by Dr Do Suan Mung. [1] Dr Mung died in 2021 and in 2024, his son David Mung runs the college. [2] The two schools offer bachelor's, and master's degrees related to theology. By 2021, there were over 1500 graduates from the college. [2]
