Cool Struttin ' is a studio album by the jazz pianist and composer Sonny Clark.It was released through Blue Note Records in August 1958. The recording was made on January 5, 1958 with a group for the session consisting of horn section Art Farmer and Jackie McLean, and Miles Davis Quintet rhythm section Philly Joe Jones and Paul Chambers.
Clark was born and raised in Herminie, Pennsylvania, a coal mining town east of Pittsburgh. [2] His parents were originally from Stone Mountain, Georgia. [2] His miner father, Emery Clark, died of a lung disease two weeks after Sonny was born. [2]
Hardin first received piano instruction from her third-grade teacher, Violet White. Her mother then enrolled her in Mrs. Hook's School of Music. [3] At Fisk University, a college for African Americans in Nashville, she received more advanced training, and earning a diploma from Fisk, returned to Memphis in 1917. [6]
