State Agencies or Non-Commercial State Agencies in Ireland are public sector bodies of the state that have a statutory obligation to perform specific tasks on behalf of the Government of Ireland. Such agencies are considered "arm's length" bodies as they are largely isolated from the workings of central government .

[3] [4]NUTS 2 Regions may be classified as less developed regions, transition regions, or more developed regions to determine eligibility for funding under the European Regional Development Fund and the European Social Fund Plus.
Note that Erne West is the only DEA in Northern Ireland whose boundaries were completely unchanged between 1993 and 2012. The 80 DEAs are the most granular unit of elected representation, thus providing a more localised indicator of voting preferences than the results in the larger parliamentary constituencies.
