The Romanian Air Force 57th Air Base "Captain Aviator Constantin Cantacuzino" (Romanian: Baza 57 Aeriană "Căpitan Aviator Constantin Cantacuzino"), also known as Mihail Kogălniceanu Air Base, is an air base located near Constanța, at the Mihail Kogălniceanu International Airport. It is home to the 572nd Helicopter Squadron. [1]
The airport is home of the Romanian Air Force 57th Air Base, which was the only unit operating the Mikoyan MiG-29 fighter aircraft. The base was disbanded in April 2004, then reestablished in 2018. [16] It has been used by the US Military since 1999. [6] It is currently home to the 572nd Helicopter Squadron which operates IAR 330Ls. [17]
