Itanagar (/ iː ˈ t ɑː n ə ɡ ər / pronunciation ⓘ) is the capital and largest town of the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh. The seat of Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly , the seat of government of Arunachal Pradesh, and the seat of Gauhati High Court permanent bench at Naharlagun are all in Itanagar.
Itanagar is one of the 60 assembly constituencies of Arunachal Pradesh a north east state of India. It is also part of Arunachal West Lok Sabha constituency. [1] [2]
The Itanagar Sanctuary is rich in biodiversity. The animals found in the sanctuary include tiger, leopard, clouded leopard, Asian elephant, gaur, sloth Bear, Barking Deer, marbled cat, capped langur, slender loris. The state bird hornbill is a regular sight in the sanctuary. The white winged duck (Cairina scutolata) is also found. [3]
