Garage rock (sometimes called garage punk or ' 60s punk) is a raw and energetic style of rock music that flourished in the mid-1960s, most notably in the United States and Canada, and has experienced a series of subsequent revivals.
The band gained recognition following the 1986 release of their debut album, Tyrants of Teen Trash , which led to an "underground" following in Europe, the United States (US) and Canada. Subsequent releases increased their fan base and, after periods of touring , the band established itself within the global garage music scene.
Describing their sound as "avant-garage," Pere Ubu's work drew inspiration from sources such as musique concrète, 60s rock, performance art, and the industrial environments of the American Midwest. [8] [9] While the band achieved little commercial success, they have exerted a wide influence on subsequent underground music. [1]
The band made their first appearance on the live music programme, Like a Version, in September 2023 where they performed a cover of the Kinks' 1964 single "You Really Got Me". [13] The trio's fourth album, Find Me A Cloud, was released in October 2023 amidst performing several shows across Europe and the United Kingdom. [ 14 ]
