Canon HV30 camcorder. The Canon HV30 is an HDV camcorder. It was announced in January 2008 and went on sale in March 2008. In the NTSC version, it is the first consumer-grade camcorder to shoot 1080p30 video in addition to PF24 24fps mode that was pioneered by its predecessor, the HV20. The HV30 has since been replaced by the 2009 model, the HV40.
The format was intended for professional camcorders, and used full-size DVCPRO cassettes. In 2003 Sony, JVC, Canon and Sharp introduced HDV as the first affordable HD video format, due to its use of inexpensive MiniDV cassettes.
Canon entered the HDV market in September 2005, with the Canon XL H1, a professional-oriented modular camera system with interchangeable lenses, HD-SDI output, and three 1440 × 1080 ⅓" CCDs. This was the first HDV camcorder to allow 1080-line native progressive recording.
It includes the recording or cassette formats DV, MiniDV, HDV, DVCAM, DVCPro, DVCPro50, DVCProHD, Digital8, and Digital-S. DV has been used primarily for video recording with camcorders in the amateur and professional sectors. DV was designed to be a standard for home video using digital data instead of analog. [1]
The XH-A1S is a native HDV that is capable of recording 1080/24p, 1080/30p. When using the 1080/24p, or 1080/30p features, you should use the 24F (24 frame rate) or 30F (30 frame rate) mode in the Camera Setup menu. This camera is capable of shooting sports, television, music videos, commercials, and movies.
