The Cambridge Ancient History is a multi-volume work of ancient history from Prehistory to Late Antiquity, published by Cambridge University Press.The first series, consisting of 12 volumes, was planned in 1919 by Irish historian J. Sir Frank Ezra Adcock, OBE, FBA (15 April 1886 – 22 February 1968) was a British classical historian who was Professor of Ancient History at the University of Cambridge between 1925 and 1951. In addition to his academic work, he also served as a cryptographer in both World War I and World War II.
He was lecturer then senior lecturer in ancient history at the University of Aberdeen (1967–81), and a fellow and tutor in ancient history at Worcester College Oxford (1981–2004), where he became a reader in 1996 and a professor in 1999. In 1990, Lintott was a visiting member of the Institute for Advanced Study at Princeton.

Paul Anthony Cartledge (born 24 March 1947) [1] is a British ancient historian and academic. From 2008 to 2014 he was the A. G. Leventis Professor of Greek Culture at the University of Cambridge. [2] [3] He had previously held a personal chair in Greek History at Cambridge.
