Tomohiro Katō The Akihabara massacre ( Japanese : 秋葉原通り魔事件 , Hepburn : Akihabara Tōrima Jiken ) [ a ] was an incident of mass murder that took place on 8 June 2008, in the Akihabara shopping quarter in Chiyoda, Tokyo , Japan.

At the time of the crime, Hasegawa was on parole from a life sentence for a previous murder. The hitman, Katsumi Suzuki, received a 30-year sentence for his role in the murder.
