In the United States, academic grading commonly takes on the form of five, six or seven letter grades. Traditionally, the grades are A+, A, A−, B+, B, B−, C+, C, C−, D+, D, D− and F, with A+ being the highest and F being lowest. In some cases, grades can also be numerical.
In the United States, FFA competitions are judging contests (otherwise known as Career Development Events) organized by the U.S. National FFA Organization, in which High School students compete based on their knowledge of a particular subject, usually for their school teams. The contests are organized by FFA advisors and local experts.
It is also where the State FFA Degree is awarded to members and where the State Stars in Agriculture are named. Each chapter submits forms to be ranked by their accomplishments and work done throughout the school year—chapters can receive a gold, silver, or bronze star ranking.
The most common scale is now 1 to 7, with 9 being the highest grade obtained. In addition, degrees are awarded in a Class, depending on the grades received. Degrees may be awarded in the First Class, Second Class (Upper Division), Second Class (Lower Division), Third Class, and Pass Class. Grading scales for secondary certificates are standard.
