Its been my experience you'll get side effects of nausea from zinc before you hit the maximum amount. Most of the tablets are 220mg and that would be more then recommended daily allowance and would be used to supplement in a deficiency situation. When its taken to shorten colds you take allot in the very beginning and that's it.
