Iron-deficiency anaemia. Iron-deficiency anaemia is a common type of anaemia that is caused by a lack of iron. Symptoms include pale skin and lack of energy. A low level of iron, leading to anaemia, can result from various causes. Some are more serious than others.
We did some blood tests, which showed: Ferritin= 12ug (range 15-200ug) TSH= 1.6 (range .4-4.5) Free T4= 13 (range 10-24) My doctor called this Ferritin level "very low" so am being prescribed iron tablets twice a day for 2-3 months but I can't help feeling that my other hypothyroid-like symptoms are left unexplained.
However, my ferritin was *extremely* low--it was only 2. I was so miserable. In addition to the symptoms you mentioned above, I also had a lot of dizziness and I got disoriented pretty easily. I did have low iron, too, but my doctors seemed primarily concerned about my ferritin level. I had two IV iron infusions, which helped a lot.
My symptoms have been: -fatigue and exhaustion. hair loss. brittle peeling/ tearing nails. vertical nail ridges. -Going into fight or flight when bending down to pick something up, getting up from sitting, going up stairs, lifting items etc. -throbbing sound in ears when lying down. -super dry skin.
Thank you for your time and honest opinion!! All that can be found was the. Iron: 231 (range 40-190) mcg/dL. MCV: 91.5%. In June, my TS% was 44% and Ferritin was 52. Iron: 159. Prior to that from Dec. 2018, ferritin was 75. I am most curious to why ferritin lowered, but TS% went up to 61% and iron went to 231.
I suffered all these symptoms for three months each and every day. i decided to look at my bloodwork again and realized i am iron deficient. my iron levels were border line low, tbic was bordeline high saturation % extremely low and ferritin borderline low. i probably became anemic in those three months of suffering for all i know .

pam62678. I have been having extreme body aches and joint pain for the past 6 weeks on a daily basis. I had a bunch of blood tests done (thyroid, ferritin, b12, etc) and everything was in the normal range. My GP said that my ferritin was 34ug/L and it's on the "low normal" end and recommended an iron supplement.
