kanoniem October 26, 2024, 7:36am #4. Canadian Style often means paddling a tandem canoe extremely heeled. In essence this means your are transforming it a bit to a very large solo canoe. Disadvantage is that you have to do everything from one paddling side because you cannot switch sides to go straight or make cross-strokes to maneuver.

    forums.paddling.com/t/high-performance-kayak-vendors-mainly-out-of-business/133901

I started attending the QajaqUSA sponsored Greenland paddling skills camps 7 years ago and just in that time I have seen a significant growth in the number of participants at events and an impressive jump in the quantity of higher end high-performance boats that people are showing up with – I’m talking various kinds of composite and folding ...

  6. Aero vs non-aero bars - Advice - Paddling.com

    forums.paddling.com/t/aero-vs-non-aero-bars/134059

Both have Thule tower systems that clamp onto the door frames (no roof rails). In my case, the car with rectangular bars shows about a 10% drop in gas mileage versus no rack while the car with the aero bars does not. But the shape of the car’s roofs and other factors could be at play here too.

  7. Tips on positioning thigh braces - Advice - Paddling.com

    forums.paddling.com/t/tips-on-positioning-thigh-braces/131978

With my Virgo, I’ve been paddling with them more over my kneecap, but I’m thinking that’s really not optimal. From what I’ve read, the edge of the pad should be at least a few finger widths from the kneecap. In the picture on the left, I moved the brace back as far as it would go. It’s mainly on my thigh, and if I splay my leg out ...

  8. Greenland Paddle? - Advice - Paddling.com

    forums.paddling.com/t/greenland-paddle/129675

When I quit white water paddling for the more sedate lake, river, bay, ocean paddling I was never able to make the switch from high angle to low angle. Someone here suggested to try a Greenland, and I have one but still can’t make the switch my WW technique is too ingrained. So I have a few Low angle Eruo’s and a Greenland all gathering dust.

  10. hauling kayaks: hull up or down? - Advice - Paddling.com

    forums.paddling.com/t/hauling-kayaks-hull-up-or-down/63888

Just curious about the rationale for hauling kayaks on conventional racks in the upright position. I started with the carved foam blocks (upright) and progressed to Thule bars with kayak upright on the bars (with pool noodle padding) or J-racks/stackers (semi-upright). But recently I switched to hauling deck down/hull up. I find I like the added security of having the coaming centered between ...

  11. Comparing Three Eddylines - Advice - Paddling.com

    forums.paddling.com/t/comparing-three-eddylines/133751

I have been paddling a plastic wilderness systems Capehorn for over 20 years. At this point I am looking to move into a boat that is lighter and faster, for the primary purpose of joy riding on the lakes and flat rivers of central Oregon. Living in the Pacific Northwest, used Eddyline boats seem to be constantly for sale all over the place for really reasonable prices. I currently have an ...
