  2. It has one PCI Express slot, unmarked (does not say 3.0). There is no name on the motherboard other than Lenovo, it is an internal cheap motherboard without any specs. Neither the manual nor the website, nor the sales know anything about which PCI Express version this slot is, 2.0 or 3.0. Device Manager also does not say what version.

    forums.tomshardware.com/threads/pcie-slot-seen-as-empty...

Long story short the GPU is not detected by the BIOS or the Device Manager , when I go into the BIOS with MSI Board Explore the PCIe x16 slot appears empty despite having the GPU installed. The setup is 1 month old , until 3 days ago I used it with the integrated graphics Vega 11 and the ASRock B450m-HDV mobo and it ran perfectly.

The top two x16 slots are wired directly to CPU, and share its 16 5.0 lanes. Whatever you put into second slot, no matter what it is, will cut the top slot to 8 lanes.

  5. PCIE x16 wired as x4? - Tom's Hardware Forum

    forums.tomshardware.com/threads/pcie-x16-wired-as-x4.3130778

A x16 slot wired as a PCI-e x4 has 4 PCI-e lanes wired to it and is electrically equivalent to a x4 slot, but can physically accept x16 cards. A x16 card in a x16 slot that is wired as a x4 slot will operate in x4 mode. A x4 card in a x16 slot that is wired as a x4 slot will operate in x4 mode.

  6. 3. Yes. A larger PCI express slot fits all smaller PCI express cards. That means you can plug an x1, x2, x4 or x8 card into an x16 slot, x4 card into x8 slot, and so on. The reverse is also true. You can plug a larger card into a smaller slot, for example x16 card into x8 slot, provided that the rear side of the slot is open.

  7. PCIe Slot Configuration Setting in BIOS | Tom's Hardware Forum

Solution. #3. If everything is working fine, then you should not change these settings. Gen1, Gen2, Gen3 refers to PCIE 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0 signalling standards. You could change setting to PCIE 3.0, but sometimes this can introduce problems (unstable gpu operation, crashes, BSODs). Try and see, if you're curious.

  8. PCIE x1 card in PCIE x16 slot? - Tom's Hardware Forum

    forums.tomshardware.com/threads/pcie-x1-card-in-pcie-x16...

Jun 6, 2014. maktovic : No that's not possible. The physical interface of that wireless card (and all wireless card have that interface) is PCIe x1 and the lenght of PCIe x16 is greater than x1 slot. So that's not possible. Not true. You can actually use a PCIe x1 (or x4 or x8) card in a x16 slot. While not applicable in this particular case ...

I reinstalled my GPU in the only PCIe x16 slot on my board, I plugged in the 6+2 pin power to my GPU, used a HDMI cable to connect to my monitor and turned the computer on but there is no display. I tried: • Reseating my GPU. • Installing my older GPU specifically the “HIS HD 4670 IceQ 1GB (128bit) DDR3 PCIe”.

Then looking at most motherboards on that site, in the specification it says expansion slot: PCIe 4.0 x16 (x4 Speed) I assumed it would make sense to match it to an 8 speed. ASUS TUF Gaming Z790-PLUS Wifi D4 - has following PCIE slots: 1 x PCIe 5.0 x16 (x16 Speed) 1 x PCIe 4.0 x16 (x4 Speed) 1 x PCIe 4.0 x4 (x4 Speed) 2 x PCIe 3.0 x1.
