Hale Koa. By BassettMom, July 2, 2013 in Military Cruisers. #1. I'm booked on a cruise to Hawaii and will be going to Honolulu. I've been there many times and stayed at the Hale Koa and loved the hotel and beach there.
Aloha, emmilu! Definitely not in walking distance. There is the public bus and I've seen the trolley at the pier (don't know cost), but guess you need to consider the luggage issue.
Private Catered Functions Authorized individuals and/or non-profit organizations are permitted to use the Hale Koa facilities provided one of the following conditions is met: The sponsor ensures that the organization is composed predominantly of personnel authorized to use the hotel's food and beverage facilities.
September 29, 2005. #1. Posted September 29, 2005. I am thinking of staying at a non-cruise pick for a night or two before our cruise in Hawaii. The Hale Koa (Armed forces hotel in Honolulu) is a lot cheaper than the ones I have seen offered. Will there be a lot of extra expense with transfers and air diversions if I do this that will make the ...
Thanks for the Hale Koa luau information. You said that non-military people could attend if seating was available. Does that mean that you can't make advance reservations? We have heard that it is very well done and would like to do that some day.
We ate at the Hale Koa almost every night because if you didn’t make reservations weeks in advance, you couldn’t get into a lot of restaurants. If you tried to make dinner reservations at the Hale Koa, they told you they were booked. But if you showed up, they would get you in as a guest of the hotel. Hopefully things will get better later.
The Hale Koa PX is on the lowest ground level in the "new" building. It is on the beach side of the hotel. There is also a barber shop as well that goes by appointments. Good hair cut at military rates. Rental cars were cheaper at Hale Koa when we were there last. Try to get an end balcony room overlooking the beach.
Suebee, do you know if the Hale Koa has a day room or offers late checkout? We will be staying there for a few days with a late (7:30pm) flight home. My mother in law is sponsoring us (retired military widow) and she doesn't know. I guess I could try calling them myself.
Try the Hale Koa Luau, it's on thurs and next door to the HHV. The Dole Plantation is ok if you're in the area, but I wouldn't list it as a must see. Its quite a ways past PH and would be at least 2hrs on the bus. Personally I wouldn't try to fit both in with the limited time you have in port, if you also want to do a luau.
My favorite is the Hale Koa Luau, but you need a DOD connection for that one. After that Experience Nutridge is my current favorite. Toa Luau is very popular, but it is up in Waimea. Chief's Luau and Paradise Cove Luau out at Ko Olina are very popular. If I had young kids, I might do the Aulani Luau, also Ko Olina.
