An idiom is a common word or phrase with a figurative, non-literal meaning that is understood culturally and differs from what its composite words' denotations would suggest; i.e. the words together have a meaning that is different from the dictionary definitions of the individual words (although some idioms do retain their literal meanings – see the example "kick the bucket" below).
In other words, "walk the talk" is not the idiom in question, but rather a garbling of that idiom. If I am mistaken and "walk the talk" is to be retained, then, at a minimum, some brief explanation should be added of how the expression first arose, and how it was transformed -- if indeed it ever was -- from "walk the walk" into "walk the talk".
