Anatomical terms of bone [ edit on Wikidata ] The pelvic inlet or superior aperture of the pelvis is a planar surface which defines the boundary between the pelvic cavity and the abdominal cavity (or, according to some authors, between two parts of the pelvic cavity, called lesser pelvis and greater pelvis).

The anterior superior iliac spine (ASIS) is a bony projection of the iliac bone, and an important landmark of surface anatomy. It refers to the anterior extremity of the iliac crest of the pelvis. It provides attachment for the inguinal ligament, and the sartorius muscle. [1]

The pelvic brim is an approximately butterfly-shaped line passing through the prominence of the sacrum, the arcuate and pectineal lines, and the upper margin of the pubic symphysis. The pelvic brim is obtusely pointed in front, diverging on either side, and encroached upon behind by the projection forward of the promontory of the sacrum.
The posterior inferior iliac spine (Sweeney's Tubercle) is an anatomical landmark that describes a bony "spine", or projection, at the posterior and inferior surface of the iliac bone. It is one of two such spines on the posterior surface, the other being the posterior superior iliac spine. These two spines are separated by a bony notch.
The pubic tubercle is a prominent forward-projecting tubercle on the upper border of the medial portion of the superior ramus of the pubis bone. The inguinal ligament attaches to it. [ 1 ] Part of the abdominal external oblique muscle inserts onto it. [ 1 ]
The pectineal line of the pubis (also pecten pubis) is a ridge on the superior ramus of the pubic bone. It forms part of the pelvic brim. Lying across from the pectineal line are fibers of the pectineal ligament, and the proximal origin of the pectineus muscle. [1] In combination with the arcuate line, it makes the iliopectineal line. [2]
