In 1947, Kappa Kappa Psi created its first National Intercollegiate Band, a band composed of musicians from universities across the United States.Since 1953, the national chapters of Kappa Kappa Psi and Tau Beta Sigma have commissioned a new work for wind band to be premiered at the National Intercollegiate Band concert.
The album was recorded at the Abbott brothers' backyard studio, Chasin' Jason in Arlington, Texas, where previous Pantera albums had been recorded. [4] It also features guest appearances from vocalist Corey Taylor and guitarists Jerry Cantrell and Zakk Wylde, who had previously made live guest appearances with Pantera, as well as being close friends with all band members.
Arrington played in various local bands before joining and touring with The Murphys, a lounge band out of Toledo, Ohio, in 1975.About a year later Arrington relocated from Ohio to San Francisco, California where he learned Latin percussion and drumming as well as playing with Coke Escovedo, Pete Escovedo and Sheila E.
Guitarists Sean Halleck and John Norris of Arlington were in this initial group. By 1995, the band had changed its name to Chomsky and included Halleck, Norris, bassist James Driscoll, and drummers Rob Avsharian (of Bobgoblin) and Luke Adams. This lineup self-released an 8-track album in 1996 which was sold at shows in Denton.
