The Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) is a public research university in Kumargaon, Sylhet, Bangladesh. [ 3 ] [ 4 ] Established in 1986, it is one of the leading universities in pioneering research and education in the physical sciences and engineering in the country.

Sylhet Engineering College commonly known as SEC is a public Engineering College in Sylhet, Bangladesh, which focuses on the study of engineering. SUST was established on 1 September 2001 by merging the former Suzhou Institute of Urban Construction and Environmental Protection and the former Suzhou Railway Teachers' College, which is a full-time general university mainly in engineering, with coordinated development of engineering, science, literature, administration and arts.
After the admission test, about 1,309 students get selected on the basis of merit and are offered admission. [62] The admission test is of 400 marks, with 40 questions carrying 10 marks each. 13 questions are from physics, 13 from chemistry and 14 from mathematics. The test is taken within two hours.
