Sanger–Harris of Dallas, Texas, was the result of the 1961 merger of then four-unit Sanger Brothers Dry Goods Company of Dallas, founded in 1868 by the five Sanger brothers [1] and acquired by Federated Department Stores in 1951; and the two-unit A. Harris and Company of Dallas, founded in 1887 and acquired by Federated in 1961.
Moreno-Cropper grew up in Parlier, California and initially attended Sanger High School before transferring to Buchanan High School for his senior year. [1] He was rated a four-star recruit and committed to play college football at nearby Fresno State over offers from Power 5 programs such as Utah, Nebraska, California, and Oregon.

In 1929, Sanger Brothers Department Store donated the Sanger Trophy to the Dallas Independent School District to be awarded annually to one of the six original DISD High Schools accumulating the most points in athletics. The Sanger Trophy was eventually awarded to Sunset for having won the Trophy more than any other of the Schools.
