First Christian Church (Immanuel Baptist Church) is a historic church building at 850 S. 4th Street in Louisville, Kentucky. The Beaux Arts building was designed by McDonald & Dodd and built in 1910. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. [1] [2]
Kyle Idleman, the church's leader since 2019. The church was established on July 1, 1962, as 53 members of the South Louisville Christian Church started a new church in the Hikes Point area. By 1998, the church had relocated to – and outgrown – numerous buildings until reaching its current location at 920 Blankenbaker Parkway in Louisville.
Southeast Christian Church, with its main campus in Middletown and three others in the surrounding region, is, as of 2013, the seventh-largest church in the United States. [3] St. Stephen Church [4] is the 38th largest in the US, [3] and has the largest African American congregation in Kentucky. [5]
