A PhD program existed at the school from 1895 until its dissolution in 1902. The school of divinity inaugurated its Bachelor of Divinity in 1903. In 1904 the college began raising funds for a building to house the seminary. The cornerstone for the $20,000 building was laid in 1906, and the school was named for Hood.
