Roger David Kornberg (born April 24, [3] 1947) is an American biochemist and professor of structural biology at Stanford University School of Medicine. Kornberg was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2006 for his studies of the process by which genetic information from DNA is copied to RNA, "the molecular basis of eukaryotic transcription."
Stanford was set up with a Political Science department but that was almost immediately renamed Economics and Social Science. The forerunner of the current Political Science department was established in 1918. Sociology and Anthropology were originally one department established in 1948. They split in 1957.
He joined Stanford's chemistry department in 1973 and then he became a full-time chemistry professor in 1984.
