John James MacDonald (May 19, 1906 – February 1, 1991) was an American foley artist and voice actor. He was the original head of the Disney sound effects department, and was also the 2nd official voice of Mickey Mouse from 1947 to 1976 after Walt Disney stopped playing the character and before Wayne Allwine became the third voice of Mickey in 1977.
Wayne Anthony Allwine (February 7, 1947 – May 18, 2009) [1] was an American voice actor, sound effects editor and foley artist.He was best remembered as the third official voice of Mickey Mouse in English (following Walt Disney and Jimmy MacDonald) and the first official casting following the establishment of Disney Character Voices International in 1988.
Iwan was hired to voice Mickey Mouse and replace Wayne Allwine after his death on May 18, 2009. [3] Iwan had previously understudied for the role when Allwine was facing health difficulties and Iwan credits Allwine's archival work as providing excellent mentorship.
His first video game voice-over of Mickey Mouse can be heard in Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep. Iwan also became the first voice actor to portray Mickey during Disney's rebranding of the character, providing the vocal effects of Mickey in Epic Mickey as well as his voice lines in Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two and the remake of Castle of Illusion.
In 2013, Diamantopoulos voiced Mickey Mouse in Mickey Mouse, and its follow-up series The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse. Although Bret Iwan has voiced Mickey in most media after Wayne Allwine, Diamantopoulos voiced the character in retro-styled productions, giving Mickey Mouse a voice similar to that of Walt Disney.
He has voiced the nephews on the TV special Down and Out With Donald Duck and the shows Mickey Mouse Works and House of Mouse (while Russi Taylor (the voice of Minnie Mouse) voiced the nephews in DuckTales, Mickey's Once and Twice Upon a Christmas, Mickey's Speedway USA and the remastered DuckTales video game in 2013.).
