The Kern River Parkway Trail is a system of hiking and biking trails that extends along the Kern River from the mouth of the canyon to Hart Park in Bakersfield, California. During the late 1940s and early 1950s, additional land was purchased east of Hart Park. This would quadruple the size from 370 to 1,012 acres (150 to 410 ha) (although the new land was not then considered part of Hart Park). Called the Kern River County Park, the land would contain a motorboat lake, golf course, and campgrounds.
There are four rock and cement lined soaking pools at the site. The small Miners Tub is located 50 feet above the larger three pools which are located at the river's edge. [1] The hot springs are maintained by volunteers, the Kern River Hot Springs Angels. [2] The Angels periodically power wash the hot springs soaking tubs in the area. [3]
