The game determined the national champion of NCAA Division II for the 2024 season. The game was scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. CST and aired on ESPN2 and ESPN+.
The game was initially set for Turner Stadium in Humble, Texas, [2] but was later moved to Shell Energy Stadium in Houston. The move also makes the 2024 championship game the first since 2004 to be played on a grass field. [3] North Central (IL) was the 2025 Stagg Bowl champions, defeated Mount Union 41–25.
