Pedro Julio Mir Valentín (3 June 1913, San Pedro de Macorís – 11 July 2000, Santo Domingo) was a Dominican poet and writer, named Poet Laureate of the Dominican Republic by Congress in 1984, and a member of the generation of "Independent poets of the 1940s" in Dominican poetry.

Twenty Love Poems and a Song of Despair (Spanish: Veinte poemas de amor y una canción desesperada) is a poetry collection by the Chilean poet Pablo Neruda. Published in June 1924, the book launched Neruda to fame at the young age of 19 and is one of the most renowned literary works of the 20th century in the Spanish language.
He also published the poems: Del amor (1901), El jardín de los sueños (1904) y Sangre de primavera (1908) and the play Cythera (1907). However, it is in creative prose where he manages to express his true qualities as a writer, especially in his book Ciudad romántica (1911) and the novel La Sangre (1913).
In 1991, the Brazilian rock band Legião Urbana released their fifth album, V, which opened with the song titled Love Song.The song is the first stanza of Pois naci nunca vi Amor, a cantiga de amor written by Nuno Fernandes Torneol in the 13th century which tells the story of the character who since was born never saw love, but have heard about "him" and knows "he" wants to kill him.
