The Provincetown Art Association and Museum (PAAM) in Provincetown, Massachusetts is accredited by the American Alliance of Museums. [1] It was founded as the Provincetown Art Association on August 22, 1914, [ 2 ] with the mission of collecting, preserving, exhibiting and educating people about the work of Cape Cod artists.
The Association funded schools and organised marketing opportunities for craftspeople. By 1889 it had 450 classes, 1,000 teachers and 5,000 students. [4] The first of the Associations’ annual exhibitions took place in July 1885 and by 1888 were large enough to take place in the Royal Albert Hall, an annual occurrence until 1913. [5]
