Crow Wing County is a county in the East Central part of the U.S. state of Minnesota.As of the 2020 census, the population was 66,123. [1] Its county seat is Brainerd. [2] The county was formed in 1857, and was organized in 1870.
It wasn't until the late 1800s that a permanent dam was built on Crosslake which eventually created the Chain as it is known today. [4] There are several buildings from the 1800s and 1900s that have been restored and can be found at the Crosslake Historical Society.
In addition to Pequot Lakes its attendance area includes Breezy Point, Jenkins, most of Crosslake, a portion of Lake Shore, and a portion of Nisswa. [ 1 ] History
Because there was already a town named Sibley in southwest Minnesota, the U.S. Post Office said the second Sibley had to take a new name. In any event, the town officially became Pequot Lakes in 1902. On June 4, 2002, the former Sibley Township was absorbed into the City of Pequot Lakes.
