[ 5 ] It is named after Thomas Mifflin , 1st Governor of Pennsylvania , signer of the United States Constitution , and 1st Quartermaster General of the United States Army .
According to the United States Census Bureau, Mifflin Township has a total area of 27.8 square miles (72.0 km 2), of which 27.7 square miles (71.8 km 2) are land 0.1 square miles (0.3 km 2), or 0.36%, are water. [5] Larrys Creek is the main waterway through the township, flowing southward to the West Branch Susquehanna River in Piatt Township.
