The Spirit of Radio: Greatest Hits 1974–1987 is a compilation album by Canadian rock band Rush, released on February 11, 2003.It includes many of the band's most popular songs from their Mercury Records era, but does not feature any material from their third album Caress of Steel.
Rush was a Canadian progressive rock band originally formed in August 1968, in the Willowdale neighbourhood of Toronto, Ontario. For the overwhelming majority of its existence, the band consisted of bassist , keyboardist, and lead vocalist Geddy Lee , guitarist Alex Lifeson , and drummer and lyricist Neil Peart .
Rush were nominated for seven Grammy Awards, [11] won ten Juno Awards, [12] and won an International Achievement Award at the 2009 SOCAN Awards. Lifeson says the guitar solo in the song is a "really hard solo to play", describing it as "frenetic and exciting" and "one of the most ambitious pieces of music Rush has ever done".
