C.I.D. is a 1956 Indian crime thriller film directed by Raj Khosla and produced by Guru Dutt.It stars Dev Anand, Shakila, Johnny Walker, K. N. Singh and Waheeda Rehman.The film has Dev Anand playing a police inspector investigating a murder case.
In CID, Senior Inspector Daya is known for his immense strength, whose name is enough to make the toughest of criminals break down. Daya's signature dialogue in CID is "Jab Daya ka hath padta hai, to muh ke andar daaton se piano bajne lagta hai" (meaning "When Daya slaps someone, then a piano plays in the mouth by the teeth").
He has acted in more than 420 films in Malayalam and other languages including Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, English and Kannada films. He has starred in both art house and blockbuster films. In 1971, he made his onscreen debut as an extra in K. S. Sethumadhavan 's Anubhavangal Paalichakal while studying law in Maharaja's College, Ernakulam .
